I'm skeptical, because it is set 130 years after Ciel's Victorian era, with 'a completely original plot ( Read more... )

'a completely original plot'

That quote is simply hilarious :D

Yeah, the most common situation where someone other than the original author takes a character from an existing work and puts them into a 'completely original plot' is called 'fanfiction'...

In my opinion the most common situation where anyone says he's going to write something "completely original" within an already existing language is in an Asylum because I hardly believe this to be possible at all ... even more so when you take an already existing character to do so ;)

So basically they are doing a story about a demonic butler of the same name. Well, maybe someday someone will do the real story! I suspect budget has a lot to do with it- using the Victorian setting would cost far more for costumes & sets. The actor looks like a good fit, it will be interesting to see-

If you either accept that Sebastian eventually escapes the double-bind at the end of Kuroshitsuji 2, or if you view the second season of the anime (or the entire anime) as apocryphal, then it would make sense that Sebastian would continue to do his demon schtick repeatedly with different masters throughout eternity--or at least until he found other entertainments.

I would have expected his name and form to change according to the preferences and needs of each new master, though.

yeah, just because Ciel had him as butler I don't see that as being the first thought of future masters making their contracts- that is the issue I have. I don't think he enjoys it so much that he would choose it for himself-

It's also possible that whoever succeeds in summoning him is specifically trying to call Ciel's butler based on some historical knowledge of Ciel (perhaps looking for a ghost rather than a demon?)

Or maybe he's just a free-roaming demon, though I was under the impression that in Kuroshitsuji, demons need a human anchor to be able to act in this plane of existence (ref: the anime when he's watching London burn and doing nothing while being taunted by the 'angel' for his inability to act.)

No symbol on Sebastian's hand, so the character must not be currently held by a contract in those images (though apparently the actor is. ;) )

Add: I do wish that some US or UK production house would become interested in doing a live-action movie of the source manga. Since it is set in the UK it really should be played by European actors (except Tanaka).

Based on his name, Sebastian ought to look vaguely Italian.

that would be great! Though nationality would not be an issue for me- after all it was Ciel who named him (wasn't he named after a dog?)
