If you think that the bread machine is far enough away from the edge of the counter, move it back another couple of inches anyway. Otherwise, bad things will happen. Very bad things.

*nods* Ohhh, yeah.

I don't use one anymore, but once, I set mine on a timed automatic cycle and went off to work. I arrived home in the evening to discover that it had toddled off the counter and heaved itself across the floor. It was lying, open, in the middle of the bake cycle (on carpet!), and the dough was about six feet away and had risen to awful proportions. I'm just happy that no hapless kitties were burned.

I never thought of that, but you're right. (Though to be fair, we have used one for years, and this is the first catastrophe of this nature.)
