I know I'm probably going to get bitched at for victim blaming, but who leaves the house without an inhaler when they've been having asthma attacks for the past 3 or 4 days? I mean, denying someone in an asthma attack an inhaler is an asshole thing to do, don't get me wrong....but as someone with asthma, if I were having an asthma attack a day for DAYS prior, I'd sure as hell have my inhaler, no matter how close to home I was.

If I had said she DESERVED IT, that would be victim blaming. At some point people have to take a little personal responsibility. This is not the same as a rape case, don't even try to equate it to that. That is ALWAYS the fault of the rapist, no matter what. The pharmacist not giving them the inhaler is the fault of the PHARMACIST, no matter that she forgot her inhaler or not. All I'm saying is it is a foolish thing to forget your inhaler when you've been having repeated asthma attacks for the better part of the week. Two separate things in my mind.

/sigh. Calling her foolish for forgetting something important does not equal saying it was right for the pharmacist at the CVS to deny them care.

One does NOT equal the other. You can be foolish and still deserve life saving care. The end.

Sometimes you don't need to come right out and say the person deserved it, many times the implication is there.

Except the implication WASN'T there, not when I said it. I'm pretty sure I know why my own intentions when I say something.

The implication was there, whether you want to admit it or not. You said something fucked up, own it.

Yes, I believe she was foolish and should not have forgotten her inhaler. I ALSO believe that the pharmacist and the CVS are in the wrong here for denying her basic care. The two are not mutually exclusive.

People do foolish things all the time. Shit happens. It doesn't mean they have a right to deny her basic care. If people didn't do foolish things, there would be nothing to learn from. I would bet you all the money I have in the world that the lady HERSELF agrees that leaving the house without her inhaler was a FOOLISH MISTAKE that she probably will take care not to repeat again.

NONE of this absolves the CVS/pharmacist from denying her basic care.
