1. I have diabetes. I havent tested my blood sugar in a long time because i couldnt draw enough blood, and the tester would only give me an error message. Finally, this past saturday i got a reading-my blood sugar was FUCKING 400.

I see doctors at two separate clinics in Lower Manhattan, and at one, when they took my bloods for a physical and the results came back, the doctor-and he was an MD-and he yelled at me: "Your blood glucose is one point below diabetic!" This was last spring, and my total sugar came in at 99 ( ... )

i dont think i can ever give it up 100 percent-its much harder for me to give up sugar than booze-ill decrease it a lot, but i doubt ill ever stop completely.

Holy Shit!

Good luck with that - it's usually taken me about a week to get used to a reduced sugar diet, feeling crappy all the way.

Once I'm off it I definitely feel much better, but the cold turkey means I spend all of my time feeling low on energy and craving carbs for the first while.

Nobody ever said complex carbs were bad! Because I'm vegan, I don't eat animal products so I fill the hole-so to speak-with high-protein plants in addition to the green leafies.

It's also soup season, so it's great to start a pot of vegetable soup right about now.
