after my first double-header i was hurting.  my legs were good.  my back was good.  my achilles (or so i believed) was inflamed & my right big toenail was black.

before seeing jessica (chiropractor of  balance natural medicine) i was worried for my upcoming marathon.  i would finish it, the question was how painful would it be.

PRE RACE

arrived in atlanta car rental desk about 11 pm - get to the sheraton in birmingham 1 am-ish, snag my packet, head to my hotel.  first room is smoking.  only non-smoking room is on the 2nd floor.  up those stairs i go.  (a bit of a hobble)

a bit nervous as i realized my need to run a 5 hour (or less) marathon in order to catch my flight to AL.

from the finish line to phoenix airport is a 2 hr drive and the marathon started @ 8am.  i was remembering my drive to jacksonville after the tallahassee marathon (ie all my bathroom stops en route).  then when i landed in phoenix the shuttle ( Read more... )

the first adventure was finding the start & packet pickup. we were driving into callaway gardens (following other cars some too) and then we decided to read our confirmation card . . .

did a 15 mile run with lilly this weekend.   slow, steady & some sore calves.  i feel more confident than my 11 miles.

i must say thank you to my wonderful boyfriend.  while i was stuck in my office working on travel arrangements & such he went on a cleaning frenzy through the house.  thank you :)

 well - these first few marathons will be a challenge for me mentally.  i will have to be ok with slow slow slow.

i'd rather be slow and finish in good health.

did 11 miles today (maybe a teeny bit more).  it's a little frustrating when i'm used to being much faster.

it's definitely nice to be running again in any case.

 since i've started work again - teaching wee little ones to ski (so to speak) it's been a bit hectic around here.

training min 3 days a week. working 2 days a week (up @ 5am home around 5pm). getting groceries/doing errands at least 1 day a week.
