Hullo all once again!

Well, it's now less than a week until I come back to the dear old UK, and I'm muchly looking forward to it. This week has been full of all the finishing-stuff-before-Christmas joy, so this update will have to be quite short...

I was shocked by Peter's death too - just so unexpected. even more so cos I had just had an email from him, and had been meaning to answer it. it is just sitting in my inbox now, as a sad reminder.

I am still deciding whether to go to his funeral on Saturday or not.

I'm still going to be over here - and also, I wasn't one of his students, so only got to know him in the lodge. I have this feeling that funerals are there for family (though not necessarily just genetic), so I'm planning to go to the memorial that Wadham will have in Hillery.

It's very rubbish that he's been taken away so suddenly; he was such a wonderful person... and so much part of the life of Wadham. Things like that email really remind you just how precious life is, and how much difference one person can make...

Hello

I don't know you but I came across this page when seeing if any obituaries had been posted yet for Peter.
I was at the funeral on Saturday & it was very well attended. Stephen Heyworth (one of Peter's colleagues) gave a very moving address which included references to Peter's fondness for the Cat in hat books.

I knew peter well, not as a student, but through his involvement with the campaign for the return of the Parthenon Marbles - he will be much missed by everyone who knew him. There was a very good quote by him about death in the front of the service sheets, taken from an email he wrote to someone else in 2004.
