Hullo all once again!
Well, it's now less than a week until I come back to the dear old UK, and I'm muchly looking forward to it. This week has been full of all the finishing-stuff-before-Christmas joy, so this update will have to be quite short...
So last w/e the wondrous entity that is Beth came to stay. We drank too much and ate lots of chicken and watched shit telly and pantomime. We also wondered around Brussels buying chocolate. Hurrah!
On Monday we had our office Christmas party, which involved mulled spiced wine, which was joyous, and our choir sang. We managed a pretty decent performance, more harmonious than I could have hoped. If I find something exciting to do in Brussels for the first few months of this year, then I'm going to join the Brussels choral group, as they sound like fun.
Also
On Monday I heard the sad news that Peter Derow had passed away suddenly at the weekend. Having known him from my time at the lodge, all I can say is that I was very very lucky to have spent time talking to him, and that Wadham has lost one of its most passionate, brilliant thinkers...as well as being extraordinary talented for getting other people drunk. I could go on all day, but most of you don't know him, so I'll just say that he was a marvellous, kind and joyous person, and I'll not forget him
On Tuesday, I went up to the ECJ, for a hearing on Wednesday, which I thought was going to be about competition law (booo) but actually which turned on an access to justice point, so was really admin law (yaaay)
And today, I'm frantically trying to get opinions and letters finished. Hence writing on LJ now, and, er, going Christmas shopping at lunch. Now if I can just get my revised note done by lunch, I think it should be managable....la la la...
So anyway. I'm going to be back to see you horrible lot pretty soon; most of you at Ben's party. I'll try to bring chocolate. I'm looking forward to coming home - probably too much. Till next we meet, be of joy.
