Neal had never liked guns. But as Elizabeth pressed the cool, heavy pistol into his hands, it felt somehow right.
"Are you sure?" he murmured.
She nodded silently. It was the only thing they could do.
Peter was drowsing peacefully in a sun-warmed deckchair. Taking a deep breath, Neal aimed carefully for his head...and pulled the trigger.
With a terrible cry, Peter lurched upright, hand clasped to the liquid dribbling down his face.
Neal hastily handed the water gun back and stepped behind El. She was laughing, hands on her hips.
"You're supposed to be weeding, not napping, Peter!"
