This??? *points upward* THIS IS WHY I LOVE YOU WITH THE BURNING FIERY PASSION OF A THOUSAND SUNS.

*dies at elf prince (who I am picturing as Loki, IDEK) saying 'get off my lawn, you damn kids!'*

You should write a book (no wait) of fairy tales (no, seriously, I mean it, WAIT) and put your own special spin on them (GODDAMMIT WOULD YOU LISTEN???) and publish that shit. SERIOUSLY. As a mother I would buy the shit out of that to read to my kid.

Of course, I read her 'Go the Fuck to Sleep'. In my Samuel L Jackson voice. So maybe I'm not the best point of reference. BUT WRITE IT AND I WILL BUY IT ANYWAY.

alsdjlfkjas I would absolutely LOVE to write that book! I also have in my repertoire: "The Round-About Reason Ganesh Has an Elephant Head," "How Ganesh Won America's Next Top Deity," and "The Chicken Story: Which Is Totally True." Maybe tomorrow I'll dig through my skype notes to post the story of Eigil, Iceland's Mightiest Douchebag. :DD

If I ever do get published I'll trade you one free copy of the book for a recording of your Samuel L Jackson voice, deal?

Ok. I think I remember the one about Ganesh (because didn't you totally tell us that one before???) but now I NEED to know the Chicken Story. NEED IT.

I'm fighting the urge to Google 'Eigil, Iceland's Mightiest Douchebag', and am holding off for two reasons. 1) I'm afraid of what the results might be, and 2) (and this is in no particular order) (except it is) (numerical order) (I think, it's been a long day) there is no way in hell it would be half as entertaining as your rendition.

So I'll just wait here. *chinhands*

Oh my god that is the best myth ever. XDDDD

(Porridge is basically, like, hot cereal. Like oatmeal or Cream-of-Wheat or something. So you'd probably put milk in it, but it's a grain-based food.)

RIGHT??

Ahhhh I see. I don't know why I always assumed it was, like, pudding. Now that I'm googling, most recipes seem to be...oatmeal. So they could have just asked for oats.

I found out what porridge was in preschool when we read Goldilocks and then made porridge as a tie-in. I was super excited, and then slightly disappointed when I found out it was just oatmeal. Like, whatever, I HAVE THIS STUFF ALL THE TIME. But I did get to use a knife for the first time ever, so that was cool. (It was a butter knife. For slicing a banana into my porridge.)

...One of my clearest memories from preschool. XD

YES, THAT ONE!!!

My reference buddy just came back from Iceland and she said that was the best part. Your pictures are much better -- she had horizontal rain that day, so it wasn't looking quite as good as with the late afternoon light. Or possibly the noonday light. :)

Oh dang. We had THE BEST weather in Iceland--our first day was the first sunny day Reykjavik had had ALL SUMMER, and after that it was varying degrees of sunny or cloudy. We didn't get rain until we were at the airport headed home, and even then it was just sprinkling.

Really really really hella lucky.
