...an anti-ship essay? I'm not sure I like the concept. :/ I've seen plenty of ship-manifestos, but the opposite seems pretty uncalled for and with lots of potential for drama-stirring, as a general concept. Soapboxes, uh? Dangerous things, those.

God knows this fandom doesn't need any chance for wank. I'm going to reply to it later though~ (I only agree with a few points, and I really, really despise the 'masochistic submissive slut' characterization which seems to be the basis for the author's view of Starscream, but I feel like I should definitely point out a few things.)
Most of her 'essay' is valid, but I feel a little miffed that someone would take time to specifically single out a pairing they dislike and write at length about it. Free to do so, but uh. I'm just a bit weirded out by the 'reverse' dedication.

To be honest, I sort of encouraged her to write it (among a couple of others), so if any wank does break out, you're more than welcome to put part of the blame on me. :3

I really hope no wank comes out of this, though. I thought it was well-reasoned and level-headed, and she herself stated that it was her opinions and that she wasn't trying to force them down anyone else's throats or make people stop writing the pairing. They're just opinions I happen to agree with whole-heartedly. XD And to be fair, it's the only pairing in the fandom that really miffs her, as she told me, so I don't see why it's so bad to vent about it.

If people do get offended by it, it's their problem, not hers. IMHO, I don't see this as something worth getting offended over; it's not like institutionalized racism or anything like that. :/

I'd be really interested to hear your take on it, though, especially how you interpret the character of Starscream. Discussion is good, no? ^_^;

Oh, it's just this - maybe it's simple my take on peaceful-coexistence on the internets, but I'd personally never post something of the like in a public place. There are plenty of pairings I dislike (some I just downright hate to the point I backspace when I see them, M/SS being the most prominent), but while I could write at lenght about my reasons and opinions on why said pairings would not work... I somehow feel like it'd be unnecessarily confrontational to post said reasons where everyone can read them. It's my opinion only, I don't plan to convert anyone, and I'm not looking for people to nod their head and agree- so I don't think I should share them.

Then again, that's just my own behaviour of choice. :) No harm done, I'll just reply later.

I think she posted it publicly because the essay also made some great points about how D/s relationships and pregnancy are portrayed in fic which I think would be beneficial for lots of people to see. I can see the argument behind only making those parts public, but eh, I'm not too concerned.

I just find it funny that some people who commented (or are about to comment) on the essay respectfully, even perhaps agreeing at points, are now probably mocking her behind her back in a public space. I'm not a huge fan of that, but then again, that just must be my take on peaceful coexistence online, isn't it?

I liked Shinji and Rei a lot more in this movie too. I mean, I always liked them, but here even more so, for the reasons you described. (And yeah, now that I look on it, the Amuro comparison wasn't all that fair, for the reasons you described. It's just that he's trotted out as an example of the "BAMF," which is really weird considering he's not, but it was late at night when I was writing that and I wasn't thinking all that straight. :/ )

I didn't really see Kaji as bi-curious, more like he was just fucking with Shinji, but it was still funny :D

I completely agree, I was just being facetious. XD

An actual super robot character doesn't work without the Eva universe, and her personality seemed non-existent, basically just another excuse for GAINAX to sell merchandise of a new female character

THIS. I didn't even think of this, really. She really didn't fit at all, and you could tell because if you skipped the scenes where she was in it, it wouldn't have impacted the movie all that much. I think her attitude could be signs ( ... )
