See my new userpic with the new hair and the new glasses? I got bifocals finally after 6 years of having to make do with several different pairs of glasses for different purposes1. Confusing. Nobody ever tells me anything.
I just learned that David Foster Wallace killed himself last September 12. That makes me sad. I really liked his work (Infinite Jest especially) and was hoping he could live a long, productive life.

Yesterday was the annual local PBS "Arthur picnic in the park", a much anticipated event for children that consists in standing in line for many hours to see various PBS characters and getting a photo taken with them. Basically it is like the exhibit hall at chemistry conferences but they don't give away iPods and candy and there are more lines ( Read more... )
