Questions from twistedchick, who makes grokking politics look like reading Cricket. I don't know how she does it. ( Me, I just self-dwell. )

Great answers! Camryn Manheim (whom I remember fondly from The Practice) would have to gain a bit of coolth to play you, though.

And grokking politics? Think about the attitudes on your average kindergarten playground, and add a veneer of politeness. That's really all it is, with self-interest the biggest issue always. Doonesbury is a good tutor. So are CJ Cherryh's Chanur series and her Foreigner series (which is almost like a grad school review when I read between the lines.) Who wants what, what are they doing to get it, who is affected, and who is opposing them and how. If I can chart it, I can figure it out.

I got all my grounding in 20th century politics from Doonesbury. We sure never covered it in school.

Hah. Yeah. Point. If all of Doonesbury was online somewhere, I'd probably call in sick for a week and just marinate.

Camryn Manheim (whom I remember fondly from The Practice)

*nods* She was awesome in that - for the season and a half I watched before I drifted away, anyway, and I'm betting she stayed consistently fabulous thereafter even in the midst of the overemoting and the Lara Flynn Boyle and whatnot.

would have to gain a bit of coolth to play you, though.Hah. Not so, but thank you kindly all the same. (She put out a great autobiography in the early years of this decade - I recommend reading it, if you're into that sort of thing ( ... )

I expect you're right, sadly. I do think, though, that eliminating Hitler would at least change the scope of the phenomenon, if not its actual existence. ?

Ooh, look, Portland makes 2 answers! Woo! It is a good place. And I could make my list of want wheres miles long as well. But, I have also been very lucky to go many places. See you here soon!

But, I have also been very lucky to go many places.

Moi aussi. Doesn't blunt my desire to do more traveling, but it's good to remind myself of that every once in a while. I have so many clients who have never been out of the part of Workstate in which I practice, let alone out of the country. It boggles me a little.

See you here soon!

Some day, definitely.

Oooh, 2 could easily be ReGenesis. I love that show. We're having a season 2 marathon next week. This makes me giddy with anticipation. (I'm still not over the fact that Peter Outerbridge is hot and no one told me.)

4. Scotland, Wales, Ireland and that tiny bit of North-East England which I inhabit. Yes? Good. One day I will go to PEI as well, preferably in the spring and then I can look out for the apple blossoms that Anne of Green Gables used to see.

ReGenesis! So glad you reminded me! I need to obtain s3! (er. not that I have actually watched s1 and s2 yet. but they are in the Q, um, queue. very definitely.)

4. Scotland, Wales, Ireland and that tiny bit of North-East England which I inhabit. Yes?

But YES, if you're inviting me. When and as I actually get to make that trip, I suppose we can narrow the address down a bit?

WOO! And yes, if when you come I will let you know within a radius of 1 mile where I live. Can't have you wandering all over the North East, can we? Course then you'll have to be blindfolded and all for the last mile or so because my life is so top secret. Oh wait. That's for Spy-me, not Fan-me. As you were. (is it possible to still be drunk 16 hours after stopping?)

Portland is so easy.
Can't be much help with the rest though...

*grins* I've heard that about your fair city. I look forward to putting it to the test some day.

Oh, it's SO true. I think it's the best city for women in America.
If you're straight, you'll find a large underserved male populace.
And if your not, you'll find out why the straight male populace is underserved...
