Yay you posted it.

Like I said on Twitter, this was a really interesting fic. How would the characters of Hetalia act in Hell? And each one was their own personal Hell too.

I would like to know what happened in the Sideshow, but the ambiguous ending fits with story.

Well, it's a part 1. If people actually want to read more, then there will be a part 2, in which case yes, I will talk about what's in the Sideshow.

If it isn't clear, they are very much not actually in Hell. Their situation is much more complicated than that. You're not meant to know what's happened to them, yet.

Ah, I see. Well, I hope you do a part 2 of this, then. I'm really interested in this now.

And, sorry for acting sort of annoying on twitter.

I've really never written horror before--or at least, I guess, stuff that I thought of as horror? I didn't even realize this was horror until I showed it to a friend and she was like "Gonna have nightmares now, thanks." You know, I'm realizing that maybe I just don't know what horror is.

It seems to work out like that, anyway! I think trying to write "A Horror Story" or "A Romance" or any particular genre is never as effective as just...telling the story you want to tell without reference to any of that, and then if it ends up being a horror or a romance or something, hey, excellent. You can market that shit, now.

Wow. I think that covers a lot of what I want to say. I love how visual it is. The descriptions don't go overboard, but they work so perfectly that you can see each place with absolute clarity and it works so well. And it's terrifying and disconcerting, in that slow, creeping terror kind of way, just because everything is just that bit wrong. It's really effective, much more so than going for outright gore.

I do love England's matter of fact attitude, even if he's probably as scared as the rest of them, and his snark with France even in the face of this was wonderful.

And Prussia, oh Prussia :<

I am absolutely fascinated and intrigued by what's going on here. It's a fascinating world and I really can't wait to see what else is to come for them.

Oh, I'm really glad I got the look of the place across! It's so pretentious to say "this fic really relies on hhhatmosphere," but--this fic kind of really does rely on atmosphere. XD And yeah, I've never felt like gore is scary? Startling sometimes, or stomach-turning and upsetting, but not scary.

Frankly, I think England and France are the only ones who have a hope in hell of figuring out the rules of this place.

And Prussia, oh Prussia :<
He might come back! France came back, after all. Despite what the Voice says, tithing definitely isn't the same as death.

I'm so glad you liked it! I would love to write more about this--in fact, I'd probably end up writing more about all this whether anybody else liked it or not--but it's nice to hear that other people want to read it. XD

I think a lot of the Western idea of horror in recent years has become way too dominated by violence/gore and things that either shock or make you jump but aren't necessarily scary (says she who cannot watch horror movies at all XD). This seems like more what would be classified as psychological thriller, or something like that XD But yeah, it's the sense of wrongness without anything being outright bloody or violent which makes it work. The atmosphere indeed XD

Yeah, England's practicality and savvy in this respect does seem to be an asset, and France is shrewd enough to pick up on anything he'd miss.

Ah, I do want to read more, and I'm glad that you posted it!

There were parts that seemed straight out of the Hellraiser universe. You write really good horror, you know that? And this story is interesting and amazing and you should totally write more. :D *is not very coherent right now*

Ah, thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. =D (I'm not familiar with Hellraiser, I'm afraid. ^_^; But, I'll take it as a compliment? XD)

Well, I'd say Hellraiser is well-written and gets inside your mind, so it is a compliment. :) Can't wait to see more. ^^

I honestly have no idea what's going on, but I love it anyway. :)

So long as not knowing what's going on is intriguing, I guess that's working as intended. XD
