I've really never written horror before--or at least, I guess, stuff that I thought of as horror? I didn't even realize this was horror until I showed it to a friend and she was like "Gonna have nightmares now, thanks." You know, I'm realizing that maybe I just don't know what horror is.

It seems to work out like that, anyway! I think trying to write "A Horror Story" or "A Romance" or any particular genre is never as effective as just...telling the story you want to tell without reference to any of that, and then if it ends up being a horror or a romance or something, hey, excellent. You can market that shit, now.
