My Dad's 70th birthday is in December this year, so I decided to make a quilt for him. I finished the top last night:

Thank you!

I don't know how to go about entering the Show. How did you find the application form? I am interested in going into competitions (my competitive streak again) - my stitching friends are encouraging me to enter a quilting comp with Spotlight where the main prize is a trip to Houston TX. That'd be pretty cool! I just have to get myself together to find out the details!

Drat, I just Googled it, and the comp closed on 14 September! It also required proof of purchase that you bought your fabrics there. I do buy them mostly there, but I don't keep receipts, certainly not once the quilt is finished!

It helps that I have that complete set, in that order sitting on the shelves near my computer.

The yellow-red-blue fatness that is Order of the Phoenix gives it away.

My literary fangirlish side adores this quilt. So does the rest of me.

Yep, they're right near each other on my bookshelf - which is in alphabetical order, of course - so it's very fitting they should bother be on this shelf. Not sure if Dad's read all the HP, certainly the first few (I made him read them!), so I'm not sure if he'll recognise them. They're in there for colour - and for me to smile about.

Thank you! I think he will be pleased with it. He gets so cold that he'll appreciate being able to put an extra layer on the bed at night too (that won't cover Mum who's a hot person).

I will start on our RR block next week, promise! I have a couple of kids' birthday present dresses to sew first :) I had to finish this one first, I hate having too many projects on the go.
