That's correct!

...Do you know why, or were you just guessing?

Woah, it was? I'm amazed!

You said there were three lights, so that's...?

True, but that is only part of why you need to flip a switch three times. Remember, you only get to check the lights once.

That's easy- you flip one switch and leave it on for a few minutes, then turn it off and flip another switch. When you go into the room, the switch you flipped last corresponds to the light bulb that's on.

Then you feel the other two and which ever is warm, corresponds to the light switch you flipped first!

So you only need to flip a switch twice

Ah, but flipping one switch twice and the other switch once adds up to three times total.

It may be easy, but not everyone in Discedo enjoys puzzles, I've found, so I kept it simple.

[locked/text] sorry xD! cerebral_foxy February 23 2009, 21:10:39 UTC
Oh hey that's right- I guess I didn't think to count flipping back to the original position.

I gave out some riddles the other day- so I wouldn't get shocked, some people enjoyed that =)

...Really? I'll have to check back on those.

Do you enjoy puzzles yourself, then?

That's a bit boring.

Not a fan of puzzles, or is it too easy for you?

kan_chyan February 23 2009, 21:30:39 UTC
I actually like riddles and hidden meanings. But I find the subject of light bulbs boring.

Ah, I see. It's just for fun, though, so no matter.

I need more metal, Professor.

puzzledprof February 23 2009, 21:19:00 UTC
Alright. Do you need a specific type, or just anything I can find?

daddyslilpyro February 23 2009, 21:20:26 UTC
Anything. I can't be picky in this place. But alloys from automobiles is preferred if you can find any that wasn't damaged in the rain.

puzzledprof February 23 2009, 21:24:53 UTC
I'll see if I can find any that were stored indoors or under a sturdy roof.

Um... You can only look once? ...

AH! You send a friend in to look and tell you while you flip the switches!

Reply

puzzledprof February 23 2009, 21:41:09 UTC
...That is possible, yes, but that's not exactly the point of the puzzle.

silk_scales February 23 2009, 21:41:30 UTC
But it solved it!

Most problems do have more than one solution, but what if you're alone?
