Yikes. I've had two very challenging photo assignments this week. On Saturday I photographed Tellabration, storytelling event in Minneapolis. One of the rooms had a wall full of south-facing windows. Friday turned out to be a snow day, which meant that the 38 photos I had ordered for Sunday's exhibition were trapped in the mailroom at St. Kate's. I didn't want to shell out big bucks to have them all reprinted, so I selected my 8 favorites and had them printed at Target. They turned out very nicely. I picked up my original order today. I had a great experience in dance class yesterday.  My instructor put us into groups of 5 and asked us to choreograph movement for a piece we'll be performing (Dec 12 - be there!)   None of us in the group knew each other at all, yet we clicked instantly and immediately began generating all sorts of ideas.  Everybody in the group contributed ( Read more... )

A squirrel thought that my arm was a giant corn cob.  I don't blame the little guy though - I had been chopping lots of corn for squirrel food.  When I reached in the cage to put food and water inside, I expected him to go for the real corn rather than my corn juice-soaked hand and arm.  Nope.  He latched onto my arm and wouldn't let go.  I made a ( Read more... )

Last night I worked security at a dance recital for the studio where I take ballet.  I was disturbed by some of the things I heard the kids saying about themselves when looking in the mirror - "I'm so fat," "This outfit makes me look fat," "I need to lose 20 pounds," etc. etc.  These were 10-13 year old kids ( Read more... )

Saturday's fashion show was a huge success despite finding out 4 hours before that show that the model for whom I made a ball gown could not be there.  That dress was custom fit to her, so I had quite a challenge finding a substitute ( Read more... )
