The past two Sundays at the nursery have been crazy. The shift before mine is short-handed so they hadn't been able to finish all their feedings which means that they fell to my shift. A fortnight ago we had to do 150 feedings, last week was a mere 120. On both days I had to give medicine to 40 squirrels which wound up taking up 2 hours of my ( Read more... )

on Japanese beetles. My back yard is infested with them. At first I didn't mind when they ate only the weedy vines that grow along my fence. They can eat as much of that as they please. I'm considering skipping Goth Prom. One reason is pragmatic, the other emotional. My final is due on Wednesday. Before then I have to write an introduction and afterword for my portfolio (I finished revisions tonight!) and also finish writing my oral presentation. Looks like I'll have to bake duck bread again. Yesterday while I was out feeding squirrels, a duck couple waddled toward me from under the bushes hoping to get in on the action. Risu was exceptionally clingy this morning. Usually he'll climb on me and/or rest on me for a little while then run off and hang with Pierogi or go into his nest. Today he would not leave me except to run to his food bowl and come right back with food. He flattened himself out on my knee several times and snuggled into my pocket and hood. When I was on campus yesterday, I watched as entire family hung out in the quad & fed squirrels. It was cute. The dad was hunkered down with 2 squirrels near him, a little boy was standing next to a tree where a squirrel was on the opposite side, and the mom stood on the sidewalk watching the whole thing.
