Lily kept in touch with Marshall and with Ted during her time in France. Marshall sent her sweet emails, and they'd talk on the phone for as long as their international calling plans would allow them (i.e. not very long). But Ted sent her letters - real letters, handwritten on fancy paper with a nice pen. Lily could almost imagine Ted sitting down at his desk and using a quill pen to tell her all about the classes, the parties, and the girls that filled his time
