Noah Puckerman felt like a huge failure. Not only had he got an F on his European Geography exam but his mother was still acting like he was invisible. Which she had been doing ever since Puck turned thirteen and his father supposedly left them for the bright lights of Detroit, Michigan. After his senior year he had planned to get the hell out of dodge and leave his neglectful mother behind. Now, however, he would have to repeat his senior year

Thank you. Weirdly, I never watched Doctor Who that much but this popped in to my brain. I did love Torchwood though :)
