Everyone who owns a house will give you shit about how renting is a complete waste of money, it's not an investment, yadda yadda. But honestly, in our day and age it's the only way to go for people our age. Dan and I could probably afford a house with how much we're making but honestly, I don't want all of that responsibility when it's only the 2 of us. The only other thing I'd do right now is get a condo, because you have a little more room and flexibility, but having an apartment is just fine
( ... )
oh ya that apartment was just something matt found we arent sold on it by any means and of course i would look around anyways i know it wasn't the best but it was to prove the point that apartment would be better. Thanks for all the tips hun i know we could survive with an apartment i was just more annoyed that she actually thinks she can have a say in what we are going to do with our lives moving wise...so stupid haha this is why i love you because you just get me :)
i agree totally with jen. why do you think donovan and i are still living with his parents? there is no way we would be able to afford a house right now and since we've already established a family we are trying to short cut through the renting process and saving up by living here.
buying a house right now would be the DUMBEST thing for you guys to do. you haven't even graduated from college yet. or have you? i know it's coming up. haha. i don't know if you plan on getting married, and i hate to sound like an asshole, but personally, i would wait until you got married before you bought a house with someone. you know? if you never want to get married then that's a different story.
$900 isn't good, but it isn't bad either. i would keep looking if i were you. all i have to say is that you are damn lucky you don't have any kids yet. you won't have to worry about the extra space and stuff.
i graduate may 12th and like i said to jen i know 900 isnt the best we aren't sold on it by any means it was just something he found and I would def. search around for other apartments anyways. we want to get married but i would def wait till we have been married for a few years then invest in a house because that is a huge commitment thought i love matt if anything did happen with us it is easier to get out of an apartment then a house. haha thanks hun!
Look at 2 family houses. That way you rent out the other half and it pretty much pays for your mortgage.
I bought my house when I was 18 and it's the best thing I could have done. The people upstairs pay 80% of my mortgage and that's only because i give them a killer deal.
If you can't find a reasonably priced 2 family, then an apartment is your best option for your financial situation.

you must experience living an apt to make sure you can handle all the responsibilities and with eachother.
