Okay, I'm sorry- I don't want to appear stalkerish here- but your journal is freaking me out a little. I perused it because you have heard of and appear to like Aaron Rodgers, which is more than I've found anywhere in all of livejournal land... but you mention so many things that I like that I'm wondering if you are secretly ME. This one was the kicker- you like Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros???? *is wearing her Joe Strummer 'Punk Rock Warlord' hoodie as we speak* I adore Joe (and I also adore his buddy Tymon Dogg, who plays fiddle. He got me to learn the violin!). You also mentioned Keith Olbermann somewhere. I LOVE Keith! (actually Keith is at least 25% responsible for my Aaron Rodgers fixation because I started watching Football Night in America just to see Keith, despite a lifelong hatred of all things football. Another 25% relates to my mom, a lifelong Packer fan, dying last August and 50% was me walking through the livingroom while my husband was watching one of the first Packer games this season and spotting Aaron on my tv

Hee, yes, I do love me some Aaron Rodgers, unlike, well, a lot of people apparently. But whatever. They suck. So yeah, I'm a lifelong Packers fan despite living in Illinois, and I got totally hooked on Joe Strummer between them doing the theme for John From Cincinnati and how much fun their stuff is to play on the ukulele. Keith Olbermann and Dan Patrick are pretty much the greatest thing about sports media (which I am just as obsessed with as football itself), but he kicks ass on his own doing politics too.
And alas, I have never seen Steve Burns live. That's a pretty recent interest-seeing him being all awesome in Netherbeast Incorporated made me hunt down his music.
A quick glance through your journal at least shows that Brett Favre is dead to both of us if he comes back a Viking, but I'm not sure how obscure that one is. Most of Wisconsin probably feels that way!
How did you become a lifelong Packers fan while living in Illinois? (says the Cubs fan up in central Wisconsin) You play the ukulele? Awesome! Joe himself used to play the ukulele when he was a busker in his youth. And Steve Burns was fun to see at the Empty Bottle...but he was rather an ass. He was hanging out with all the young pretty people and declined the beer I offered to buy him (I was not being sleezy about it either, and clearly had on a wedding ring but, sadly, I know I look like a mom and I think those scare the hell out of him to this day). My favorite song off Dustmites is Troposphere. I don't know about Netherbeast Incorporated. What is that

I grew up in Illinois, but pretty much my mom's entire family is from Wisconsin, so I picked it up young from my grandpa. It has caused no end of suffering being surrounded by all these rabid Bears fans (my hometown is extra obnoxious since Tom Thayer's from here), but worth it. And yeah, I love my uke. Picked it up on a whim last Summer and now it really beats studying for finals.
Shame Steve was kind of a jerk, but I could understand being a little leery of the soccer mom crowd in his situation. Netherbeast Incorporated is a little independent movie he starred in pretty recently, maybe last year? I'm not usually big on vampire movies but that one was funny and awesome.
I do love Voltaire, especially his Star Trek stuff, as well as Radiohead and the Flaming Lips. A band I occasionally collab with does a whole lot of both of them. I am also a geek and a flaming liberal, but I love country music. Grew up listening to it and all that, so it's kind of an awkward situation with some songs promoting values that make me uncomfortable, but
