I grew up in Illinois, but pretty much my mom's entire family is from Wisconsin, so I picked it up young from my grandpa. It has caused no end of suffering being surrounded by all these rabid Bears fans (my hometown is extra obnoxious since Tom Thayer's from here), but worth it. And yeah, I love my uke. Picked it up on a whim last Summer and now it really beats studying for finals.
Shame Steve was kind of a jerk, but I could understand being a little leery of the soccer mom crowd in his situation. Netherbeast Incorporated is a little independent movie he starred in pretty recently, maybe last year? I'm not usually big on vampire movies but that one was funny and awesome.
I do love Voltaire, especially his Star Trek stuff, as well as Radiohead and the Flaming Lips. A band I occasionally collab with does a whole lot of both of them. I am also a geek and a flaming liberal, but I love country music. Grew up listening to it and all that, so it's kind of an awkward situation with some songs promoting values that make me uncomfortable, but it's not all bad.
Favre. Oh dear. Before the first unretirement mess I shamelessly adored him, even when he was throwing soul-crushing interceptions in playoff games. After that, though, I sided firmly with the Packers, which led to lots of arguments with my dad, who sided with Favre because he has a total mancrush on him. I didn't really mind him going to the Jets, except for Chad Pennington getting booted to make room, but this Vikings crap is just such a massive spiteful 'screw you' to Green Bay and the fans and that just isn't cool.
Yeah, I do fantasy football with my coworkers, so that gave me a lot of interest of football outside of Green Bay these past couple seasons. I loved watching Ryan and Flacco last year do the awesome rookie thing, the constant Cowboys drama and the Cutler/Rivers rivalry were super fun, the resurgent Dolphins, Jim Sorgi-king of week 17 (and my heart), all sorts of stuff.
I totally understand the pent-up football thing. As much as I love them, all my friends are big old nerds who are very confused by my love for large men in spandex running into each other.
Yeah, I'm not on a ton, but my SN is SexinAngelKaworu (which could be on a billboard warning against 13 year old girls who've just discovered yaoi picking their own screennames, but oh well. :) )
