--There we go. I think. [his voice comes in tinny for a few seconds until the audio begins smoothing itself out.] Funny thing about technology: the more advanced it is, the more bugs it has. Don't get me wrong, it's not that I don't like carrying around a big, cumbersome computer on my wrist, but they could have at least fixed some of the tinier ( Read more... )

I was thinking about checking out the ... zoo, actually, if only to know what I'll eventually be up against. The - party sounds like fun, I guess, but we've gotta spend our money on more important stuff right now - gotta rebuild from scratch. You always complained about me not having much of a business savvy mindset, right? Well, I got us some decent cash that should help us getting started. Not bad, huh?

Yeah, priorities. If we're going to make a shopping list, ammunition and basic provisions should be on the top. Still...I'm sure we can also manage some cheap costumes using what we already have. I'm sure the hostel owners won't miss their bedsheets.

How'd you get the money?

And dress up as - what? Ghosts? How spooky. Thanks, but I'm a little too old for that.

Oh I just sold some old junk. It's amazing how much some people are willing to pay for things they've never seen before...

Halloween isn't just for kids these days. More and more each year, adults have started dressing up, too. [thinks for a moment] What about a ghost pirate? You already have the eyepatch for that.

They're from a different culture than we are. [and kind of siiiighs as he continues looking around the room] I wonder how much my guitar would make.

...

We're stuck here, and you're playing video games and looking for your guitar.

[Liquid really cannot believe this guy.]

Not all the time; it's just a neat way to stave off boredom. I'm rather fond of that falling block game, too, but I like Dotman better.

...falling block game? [A sigh.] I don't think I even want to know.

Yeah. Blocks fall from the top of the screen and you have to arrange them in a horizontal line to get points. If the blocks fill the entire screen, you lose. It's like a puzzle that you can work with your thumbs.

Thanksgiving's pretty cool and all, but it's just not the same without a ton of food, and getting a look at this place, I'm just not sure if people would be willing to add to a Thanksgiving Food Bank, if you catch my drift.

[Sigh.] We could always make up a holiday!

But apparently they have enough time and money to build a casino. I don't really get the logic behind that.

[snorts] Like what? Remember-when-we-were-kidnapped-by-the-government Day? It could be a nice substitute for Memorial Day, I guess.

Your guess is as good as mine there. [Shrug.] Pastimes before work times, I guess.

Haha! Or we could celebrate unbirthdays. [yeah no] Hmmm... Well, do parties always have to have a theme? How about something like a night club? In this case it could be open to anybody- and maybe not at night! [grasping here, give him some credit]

No wonder the city's still stuck in the 50's. Just goes to show you that even the worst grime can look nice and sparkly when you polish it.

A club? [he actually sounds really interested.] ...You know, that's just the right brand of crazy that could end up working. Nothing full scale or huge like that casino, but a bar could work.

The CLD seems sufficient enough, though I will be examining it in closer detail soon enough. [Read, taking it apart. Or trying to.] I would assume going to the zoo would be informative at best, should we ever venture out to the Wasteland.

That sounds like a good idea. Given the size of these things, I wouldn't be surprised if there's more to them than meets the eye.

Are you considering going into the Wasteland?

Indeed. The technology might be.. outed, but we still might learn something. Perhaps.

In time, yes.

If anyone's qualified to tinker with one, it's you, Mr. Transformer. I bet you're used to playing around with much more advanced tech than this.

I've heard someone already went and found what constitutes as treasure here. Going out there might be a practical venture, but I'm just as interested in finding out if there are any other cities or towns out there. This can't be the only one.
