--There we go. I think. [his voice comes in tinny for a few seconds until the audio begins smoothing itself out.] Funny thing about technology: the more advanced it is, the more bugs it has. Don't get me wrong, it's not that I don't like carrying around a big, cumbersome computer on my wrist, but they could have at least fixed some of the tinier ( Read more... )

I was thinking about checking out the ... zoo, actually, if only to know what I'll eventually be up against. The - party sounds like fun, I guess, but we've gotta spend our money on more important stuff right now - gotta rebuild from scratch. You always complained about me not having much of a business savvy mindset, right? Well, I got us some decent cash that should help us getting started. Not bad, huh?

Yeah, priorities. If we're going to make a shopping list, ammunition and basic provisions should be on the top. Still...I'm sure we can also manage some cheap costumes using what we already have. I'm sure the hostel owners won't miss their bedsheets.

How'd you get the money?

And dress up as - what? Ghosts? How spooky. Thanks, but I'm a little too old for that.

Oh I just sold some old junk. It's amazing how much some people are willing to pay for things they've never seen before...

Halloween isn't just for kids these days. More and more each year, adults have started dressing up, too. [thinks for a moment] What about a ghost pirate? You already have the eyepatch for that.

They're from a different culture than we are. [and kind of siiiighs as he continues looking around the room] I wonder how much my guitar would make.

A solid five hundred and fifteen. Not too bad, if you ask me.

[you think you're clever, don't you?]

...What?

You didn't--

[deep, deep breath now.]

YOU DID! WHAT THE HELL, SNAKE?!

[Ow. are you trying to compete with liquid?]

What? It was old and about to break down anyway. Better sell it and make some money off it before that happens. We can get you a new one later; for now, we have other priorities. I didn't think you'd mind.

I don't care! That was mine! Whatever happened to asking first?!

Kaz. I didn't ask because I knew we'd get into this kind of argument. ...Besides, how often did you ask me before making any 'business plans'?

[ouch. that was exactly what he didn't want to hear.]

That's -- that's completely different and you know it. Ask yourself if I've ever stolen anything valuable from you. Can't think of anything, can you? How would you like it if I swiped that ratty old bandana of yours when you least expected it and replaced it with a new one?! It'd lose all of it's meaning, that's what!

What, that block of wood had meaning? All it ever meant for me was earaches.

Maybe you should take that up with my dad.

[silent for a bit]

You never told me about that.

Why would I? I don't expect you to tell me every little detail about yourself. This never had any relevance in our discussions.

But look at the bright side: no more earaches.
