Posting this before reading to see others' thoughts about Eurovision. My weekend was pretty good, I didn't get to watch the X-men films, which was as much my poor time-management as anything. I did some reading (may talk about that later) and writing (yay! Not loads, but some.)
I also watched The OC 'The Road Warrior' (
3-16 )

Fearne Cotton deserves a BAFTA for that WoganInJoke delivered with a totally straight face and why oh why were Will & Grace presenting ? and who let them ? he gave up the will to live half way through and just mumlbed and sighed his way through it. LMAO !
I voted for Ireland as it was the only song I actually liked. All in all a very poor year I felt.

Will or Wogan? :) Grace really annoyed me, because she Just. Didn't. Get. It.
I didn't vote. If I had, it might have been Romania, because it was Eurodisco that kind of worked and I really liked his voice (so did he, little show off).

I guess Eurovision Song Contest always attracts some, uh, "birds of paradise". And that's why we love it - I mean a lot of the performances this year had me scratching my head, wondering what they were thinking!?!?
That Finland won was surprising, however. But perhaps it was exactly because the group was so peculiar and the genre didn't really fit into the "happy-go-lucky-lalala" world. I guess this contest made it clear that it definitely is a "song contest" and not a "concours de la chanson" anymore. :) Vraiment! Thing is, if they're looking to make it big, English is the language of pop. Not that I think most of the contestants will do so. The UK's entries usually seem...sel-conscious somehow - and they can be pretty dire. but we're so aware of the hoop-la surrounding the competition.
And the votes. I find it very interesting to see who gives points to whom for which political reasons. With certain countries, very predictable. Others: always a ( ... )
