If you guessed Hershel Layton, then you are correct! Add some picarats to your names! The Professor would love to do that himself, but he's a bit busy right ( Read more... )

[HE'S NOT AS YOUNG AS HE WAS BACK IN COLLEGE OR HIGH SCHOOL. HIS FORTY YEAR OLD LEGS NEED ELEVATORS]

Is there something wrong, Miles? [DID MORE ZUBATS GET IN YOUR HAIR?]

...What were you doing, sir? [People. Die. In. Elevators.

Ken is going to have such a traumatized Miles on his hands.]

Prior to this? Shopping in Goldenrod's Department store. May I ask why? [And this seems pretty serious, so he's ignoring that Miles addressed him by "sir"]

Ah, so this is not the first time it has broken down? [And here he thought it was pure rotten luck]

And haha, of course. Take as much time as you need, Miss Mason.

Nah, it was always stalling and stuff back when I worked there...

ANYWAY.

Uhhh... because... um...

If there're other people... I guess the elevator would be going all the way up anyway, so... um... it'd be like, using the power? But if there was nobody else, he'd be using electricity just to go up by himself.

So uh... maybe he doesn't wanna waste electricity unless a bunch of other people are going up to begin with?

... I guess that doesn't address the rain part, though...

[IT'S BEEN AWHILE SINCE SHE'S SOLVED ONE OF HIS PUZZLES, SHE MISSED THIS.]

Yes, it does not. A clever answer, but not the right one. If you need a hint, I am more than willing to give you one.

[WELL MORE PUZZLES FROM NOW ON SO LET'S DO THIS THING]

...It is quite the toughie, though...!

Yes, I do hope so as well. It is rather cramp in this elevator. [Not really, but after sitting in one for a while, it tends to feel like that.]

Haha, if you ever need a hint, I am more than happy to give you one, Miss Riddleton.

Hmm...Oh!

Perhaps he gets cold easily? When there's more people in a small space, it's warmer! And going up stairs can get you warm if you go fast enough!

Oh, but...that doesn't account for the rain...

Stuck in an elevator... Yet as calm as ever, with a puzzle to boot.

As expected from the Professor!

[Chuckle.] A true gentleman stays clam in every setting. No good to panic now, is it, Remi?

That's very true!

But you're still stuck, aren't you?

Yes, I'm afraid so. It should be a few hours until I am let out, it seems.

[Hello, Professor. This is Phoenix.

This is Phoenix giving you a mildly freaked out look because oh god ELEVATORS. He's not too scared of them, himself, but he can't say he's all too fond of them after finding out exactly what can go down in them.]

...uh.

First things first, Professor...are you alright? That doesn't look very comfortable.

[Meanwhile, he's working through that puzzle...hmm. It's not the kind of puzzle he's good at; HE CAN DO THE MURDER ONES AND THE LIKE, but these ones tend to throw him off a bit. Give him a few minutes...]

[Let's just hope one of Layton's enemies aren't near the elevators to kill him once he passes out or something.]

Yes, I am quite fine, thank you for asking. Though I do have to admit that it is a bit uncomfortable. The elevator tends to feel quite small after being in one for some time.

[AND TAKE YOUR TIME MR WRIGHT. He'll have a murder puzzle for you after!]

[Well, at least the 'Fessah doesn't have a gun on him...right??]

I can imagine...but, hey, it could be worse. At least there's people coming for you.

[...he hopes.

AND THIS IS HIS DEEP THINKING FACE. Let's see:

~ WITNESS TESTIMONY ~
The man is on the tenth floor of the building. He is able to push the button to come down into the lobby. However, for some reason, on the way up...]

When the man takes the elevator down to the lobby in the morning, are there other people with him at that time?

[This isn't a cross-examination, Phoenix...]

[...Does a slot machine gun count?!

and the Professor nods and just waits patiently for Mr. Wright.]

On some days, there are other people but on others, there are not.
