[The video feed opens to the view of green sneakers (Layton having accidentally kicked the device laying on the ground and causing it to start), and the sound of a clipped, British accent. However, to those that know Layton, those two words, breaking in tone, sound very unlike the composed professor. The shoes shuffle

[Not her, she's doing nothing to hide her German accent, but she knows them.]

[The video comes on crooked, Layton unused to the technology.] Oh, I see. Do you mind if I ask exactly where I am, Miss?

It's a planet called Fortuna. We're not entirely sure how any of us got here, or how to get home.

[Layton's astonishment is clear on his face.] A different planet? My word, that is quite unbelievable.

That is indeed troublesome. Thankfully, I've been able to get in contact with those that I know, but I can't imagine that being here will be like going off to holiday.

[The screen on the communicator turns on, showing the image of a small boy sitting in bed with a few bandages wrapped around him.]

Luke will be very happy to see you, I know.

Luke is here? [Layton isn't sure whether to be relieved or worried. On the one hand, he is happy to have a familiar face but Dissimulo doesn't excatly seem safe.]

Thank you for telling me. I'll try to get in contact with him as soon as possible, and find out where we are exactly. [Layton tugs on his hat, some concern passing across his face.] I hope I haven't worried him too much in the time we were separated.

For some time. I know he's been worried about you.

Oh, I see. For some time, though? We've only been separated for an hour or two.

[Layton pauses in thought, before answering.] Unfortunately, I don't. Does this device record myself as well? If it does... [Layton turns the feed from himself to his surroundings. There is a church nearby, with shop buildings a distance away.] that is what it looks like around here. If it helps, I was able to find out the street name I am on as well: King Street.

[ Flora was in her apartment, going though recent network posts when she happens upon this one. Her first thought is--Oh! a newcomer. She liked greeting newcomers. Outside of supply runs, it made her feel like she was doing something important and productive.

She turns on the voice function without much thought. It hasn't yet hit her that it's the Professor on the other end. ]

[ She hears the rest of the message and actually recognizes his voice...no no no. It couldn't be, could it? The professor had gone home. He'd--

Oh, but she'd gone home and returned...hadn't she? She quickly turns off the video and sets her communicator down, pacing the room as she thinks. What if it was a trick of the city? Like the bodies or ghosts had been...

She goes back and picks up the communicator. The post was still there... ]

[ The post was still there! Flora smiles and turns on the video. She looks tired, but happy. ]

Professor? Is that...that's really you, isn't it?

[professorgent]

[Layton turns to his device, very sure he heard a familiar voice. It couldn't be...! But then there was no more sound.] Excuse me? I'm sorry, but could I ask for your name? I could have sworn--

[Then the video comes on. And it's just who he suspected it would be.] Flora! [And judging by what he can see in the background of the video, she wasn't back at the office or his flat. That, and Flora looked much more tired than she had at the end of their last adventure.]

My dear, where are you? Is everything all right? I expect there might be some dangerous activity afoot, so I hope you have been careful. [Sorry, Flora, Layton is now in fretful guardian mode.]

[Hi there, Professor. Luke is staring at the video feed and he looks rather uncertain about all this. He doesn't want to get his hopes up, but he is also your apprentice and he'd know your voice anywhere].

[He's not quite convinced. But only because it's been a rough two weeks here in Discedo. Stranger things have happened here and the town would probably not care much about tricking him. Though this would be a really horrible trick to play on somebody.]
