Had quite a bit going on the last two shifts.  Some of it good, some of it not so good.

So I'm on my first string of night shifts, and I'm on shift 3 of 4 for 1800 - 0600.  I'm actually adjusting to it a lot better than I expected, I just don't seem to have the time I anticipated afterwards to write.  So I'll try to make up for it now.

I wasn't in yesterday because I had to take my mother to an appointment, so I missed a slow day with a transfer, which isn't exactly the worst thing that could have happened.  Today was pretty quiet too, but a good day to start learning to take the lead as attendant medic on calls.  I only handled three calls today, but they were all non-urgent ( Read more... )

The second day of my preceptorship was today, and it went pretty well despite having my first patient die ... or perhaps because I was able to deal with a VSA patient.

Well, it took some waiting but I finally got my first shift.  On one hand, I was expecting a lot of what I saw, but on the other hand I had a few curve balls thrown at me.

I finally got my shift information from my preceptor, figured out which shifts I can ride and sent an email booking the shifts I'm supposed to be on the truck.  Monday is my first day, lets see how I can handle this.

It's been 5 days since I got an email from my professor in charge of my regions field placements telling me that I do in fact have a preceptor, but that we don't have the OK to contact them and set up shifts to ride out ( Read more... )

Exams are done, I looked at my marks and they're all in the nigh 70's to mid 80's, which is great.  But now I'm at the stage where I need to wait and find out if I have a preceptor for spring ride outs.  As it stands, we have more students than we have preceptors and some of us may not get to do our placement this May.  It's not that huge of a deal ( Read more... )

All indications that I've had have lead me to believe I've done well and that I've got this semester in the bag. I feel moderately confident with my science exam, and I feel very good about my scenarios, I should be ecstatic right now. All I have left is lifting and psych, psych is a little bit of a joke and being 88kg, I'm one of the bigger guys ( Read more... )
