While playing around on Library Thing, it occurs to me how many books I've owned in my lifetime. The site keeps making suggestions to me of books I once owned and got rid of either because I felt like I'd outgrown them or they were ratty from too many readings. It makes me wish I'd not given away 350 children's/young adult books when I moved from ( Read more... )

Gah. Why do bookstores move farther and farther from the capital city of Mississippi? It drives me crazy!

I agree! I'm not excited about the prospect of going out to the new mall just to browse around. I guess we'll go to Border's now. I mean, it's always crowded in there, so presumably they aren't doing badly. Maybe the taxes are lower in Madison County? I don't know.

I think this'll leave BAM as the only chain store in Jackson city limits now?

Yepper. And I kind of hate that joint. It's too bright and too... warehousey. Barnes & Noble and Borders at least try to make it slightly cozier. I used to really like Lemuria, but then suddenly everything I wanted was "special order", and that's no fun. Is there a good independent bookstore in Hburg?

A Passage to India is on the shelf at Miz Love's house if you wish to claim it.

My copy? I don't remember lending you that! I'm getting old... :( If you want any of my things when I die, we'd better mark them. At this rate, I'll forget to put it in the will.

Yes, your copy. I think you lent it to me well over 10 years ago along with a Woody Allen book that I believe is right next to it on the shelf... the Margo Shelton Memorial Library. I guess that should be "Honorary" since you're not dead but that doesn't sound as good.

"I love books. :) If I had all the money in the world, I'd have rooms and rooms and rooms full of bookcases full of books--all hardbacks. One day, maybe. :P"

I share this dream, although I'd settle for one nice 2-story library room. :)
