While playing around on Library Thing, it occurs to me how many books I've owned in my lifetime. The site keeps making suggestions to me of books I once owned and got rid of either because I felt like I'd outgrown them or they were ratty from too many readings. Gah. Why do bookstores move farther and farther from the capital city of Mississippi? It drives me crazy!

I agree! I'm not excited about the prospect of going out to the new mall just to browse around. I guess we'll go to Border's now. I mean, it's always crowded in there, so presumably they aren't doing badly. Maybe the taxes are lower in Madison County? I don't know.

I think this'll leave BAM as the only chain store in Jackson city limits now?

Yepper. And I kind of hate that joint. It's too bright and too... warehousey. Barnes & Noble and Borders at least try to make it slightly cozier. I used to really like Lemuria, but then suddenly everything I wanted was "special order", and that's no fun. Is there a good independent bookstore in Hburg?

Oh yeah, Waldenbooks in the Metro mall. But it's closing soon too.

I just discovered Main Street books down here actually, wandered in there during the art walk last month. I haven't gone back but then I haven't bought any books since then. I remember looking through used books in there but they had new too.
