For the one hour screening I had a 99.  For the three hour screening I had 75 for my fasting sugar, 155 after the first hour, 180 after the second, and 151 after the third hour.  It is official I have Gestational Diabeties.  Which I kind of knew because I haven't been feeling well.  I can't concentrate when I try to read and I get sleepy.  But the ( Read more... )

I had the same thing with mine! The doctor diagnosed me, told me to take shots of a certain amount and check my blood sugar, then make an appointment the following week with a dietician.

So I was still eating like I normally would and my blood sugar was staying high despite massive amounts of insulin. The class really helped me understand exactly what I needed to be eating and doing every day. But at the same time, they advised reading up on it as much as I could. So the link above looks like a good place to start!

They didn't even get me started with testing my blood until I go to the class next week

I too went a googling, and there are a ton of sites out there that I think will help with what you're going through. Driftless got the big ones from the mayo clinic and the main diabetes web sites ( ... )

I can't have sugar free stuff because pregnant women aren't supposed to have artificial sweeteners.

Doing something to control it is exactly what I want to do. I am frustrated because I was feeling like I had to wait a week to figure out what I can do.

I am trying not to let my sugar get too low either. I am afraid to eat anything for fear that it is bad for me and Sary.

Right now I am eating a steak kabob on salad instead of rice. With water to drink cause there isn't much on the list of things I can drink. No sugar, no caffine, no artificial sweeteners, and not too much milk. I am pretty sure I have picked something okay for lunch.

As for the nursery touch ups that is up to you and Jake, I hope we get the boarder up this week.

The changing table came in the mail yesterday. My parents bought it online and had it sent to me. If we aren't too busy I want to put that together tonight.

I was thinking Thursday night Hobby Night for touchups. THere isn't a lot to do, so we should be able to knock it out pretty quick and do some hobbying too.

I went through the same thing about a month ago. Add more protein to your diet (cheese, peanut butter, meat), cut out the refined sugars. Whatever you do don't cut our carbs completely, you'll just feel worse.
If you are big on pasta (like I am) switch to wheat pastas. Your body processes them differently.

I completely agree on the wheat pastas (and even wheat bread). White pasta just skyrockets my blood sugar, but wheat is not too bad. There is lots of fiber in wheat which is great for keeping sugar under control.
