In what manner?

It would depend on their ability.

... [Well that struck a nerve.]

So what does 'Youth A' think about this?

They admit responsibility.

Even if they didn't mean to kill anyone, they still took that risk. And if they understand that...

I don't see the problem. Do we not have a law for that, or something?

In this example, they thought they could handle it.

That is exactly it; there is no law on this subject right now.

They should be punished.

I had hoped you would respond to this; as far as I am aware, despite "should" or "should not," we have no laws on this matter.

Youth A was aware that they would lose control of their powers, yes? And as such did not take any action to prevent harm being caused - negligence. A death was caused from said negligence. Duty and responsibility are, of course, incredibly important regarding any kind of power. Legally speaking, Youth A would be guilty of negligent manslaughter if a judge or jury - which, of course, we do not have - agreed that the results emerged from negligent actions.

Yes; they admit responsibility. As I understand it, they thought they could handle the loss of power. As well, this is not the first time something like this has happened. Some are speaking of building a "safe house," but I believe that in addition, discouragement is needed from such idiocy.

[Doesn't even know most of the laws of is own world]

Would they have been punished in your world?

princedetective August 29 2009, 17:31:42 UTC
Yes.

What kind of punishment?

Is age taken into account at all?

Both are questions we have yet to decide, and answer. However, generally speaking, if one is old enough to understand cause, effect, and their actions, they are old enough to take responsibility for them.

... All I'm wondering is why this Youth-guy wanted to practice in the middle of a crowd.

Reply

princedetective August 29 2009, 18:10:14 UTC
They had faith in their abilities and "aim."

Reply

notacrabperson August 29 2009, 18:12:22 UTC
If they got that much faith in themselves why would they be practicing like that?

Reply

princedetective August 29 2009, 18:14:26 UTC
Because they are an idiot. It was an example.
