Yes it is tacky to put a request like no clothes on the invite. Chances are even if you do you'll still get clothes. Best you can do is hope people provide gift receipts so you can return what you don't like.

Yeah I felt weird about it, i wasnt going to put it on the invites just when they go to the store to get the registry list, it would be in the notes section. I hope they do include receipts! Thanks though for answering my question!

You don't always need the receipts to return items. You would just get store credit instead if they agree to take the item back. :D

Congrats on the Boy!

Unfortunately your print is really small after "And we found out its a boy!!!!!" and I can't read the rest of your post.

Thanks! I can read it! And yeah, I wouldn't bar clothes. If you have a theme or colors that you'd prefer, maybe write that down on the invites?

As much as you enjoy buying clothes extra clothes for a baby can never hurt! Worst case scenario your little one outgrows them and they get passed on to someone else in need or saved for any future children. :) People who attended my shower bought off our registry as well as gave us clothes. I got a very, very healthy mix of both which was incredibly helpful on top of things I'd already saved to purchase or purchased in the weeks thereafter. I was given a lot of larger sized stuff too, so I have a healthy assortment to pick from in sizes from newborn right up through a year. Besides if your friends/family are anything like mine you might have some folks who find gorgeous things you might never have seen or considered to surprise you with that you'll be giddy about dressing your son up in.

Congrats on your little boy! I am due with one next week and spent the first 20 weeks convinced he was a she. Color me shocked when my little monster was all too proud to show the goods at the 20 week ultrasound. ;)

i agree with this comment. i didn't register for any clothes, still got some and it ended up being a godsend. maybe register for "older" sized clothes instead of newborn since babies grow out of it pretty fast.

i envy you for finding out at 20 weeks, my lo waited until 27 weeks to show us

I don't care if it's tacky or not, but you're going to get clothes so I wouldn't bother requesting it. A lot of people won't even look at the registry.

People love buying tiny little clothes for babies. You can always return the clothes you get and put the money toward the things you needed but didn't get at the shower.

I wouldn't try to put restrictions on it. I know clothes usually aren't the most needed item, but more won't hurt and your family & friends probably get just as much joy out of choosing a little outfit for your baby as you do. I usually buy bigger sizes because most people like to buy the tiny newborn stuff, but I'm totally guilty of "having" to get some sort of clothing along with something off the registry.
