See- that's what I'm saying. :( I don't know why that's (seemingly) not an option.....

I had one earlier this year with a catheter and it was weird but not painful at all. It just felt odd being inserted and removed, kind of like the worst needing-to-pee feeling ever.

I guess I can handle "weird", it just sounds horrible. I think I imagine things too much maybe.

This. I've had probably about 4 in my life, and they dont really hurt.. but its just weird. It didnt feel as weird being removed then it did being put in though, it was more like relief LOL\

But like other posters said, i just had to drink alot of water before my ultrasounds

I've never heard of someone needing a catheter to get an ultrasound. But, to ease your fears, I had 5 caths after delivering my baby and while it isn't pleasant, it's not horrifically painful. It hurts a bit, but it's not unbearable.

I agree that it seems odd that they'd want to do a catheter. My place just told me to drink 2 bottles of water an hour before the u/s. I didn't even do that because I have bladder problems... I drank one bottle of water in the waiting room. The picture was ok, but they couldn't get a good angle, so they ended up having me empty my bladder anyway. Then they used the internal u/s wand and saw everything just fine.

Why do they need a catheter? They did a vaginal ultrasound for me, and it's done onan empty bladder.
