What a tough little girl! I'm so impressed by how well she's done!

And well done to you and the husband for making it through too... there is nothing worse than seeing your baby in distress, I can't imagine what you've been through.

Ahh I cried at your story, from the little baby that's mother died, right through your child's surgery. I am so glad she is ok and I pray she continues to grow strong<3 One amazing thing you will probably find is she won't keep the scar. At that age so much is still developing the scar will most likely go away almost completely. There was a baby in our hospital that was removed from an extreme emergency c-section, or both of them would have died. in the process of cutting open the mother the scalpel went into the baby's face from hairline to jaw and he had to have surgery as soon as he came out. There is not even a trace of the scar:) Had the OB not gotten him out so quickly though they both would have died. Just and interesting piece I thought I would share.

Your daughter is beautiful:)

I am so sorry that you had to go through such a horrible thing... especially right when she was born. Nobody imagines going through things like that. I've pictured a perfect birth since day 1 but now that I am ready to have her any day, I am starting to think of the bad too because things do happen and I need to prepare myself incase anything is wrong.

If you don't mind me asking... are there going to be complications later in life or is the heart completely fixed now?

I wish you and your family the best.
& congratulations : )

as long as the areas they fixed don't have issues with growth- to where they stay narrow as she grows from scarring- she should be fine. If there is scarring and they don't grow they'd have to do another surgery to widen the narrow areas.
Otherwise, she should live a normal life- her sternum will probably always be a touch weak, so no football (heh) but she should be able to play sports if she wants. She'll always have to be careful about nail and tooth care, since infections in those areas can spread quickly to the heart, as can lung infections.
