Dear Uterus.

Dear Uterus,

Please make up your mind. The contractions are confusing me with the whole "OMG these are close together and they hurt" and then "Gee, where'd you go?".  How about this time (with contractions just as close together as they were last night) we actually work together and get this thing going? I mean, I'm 39 weeks. It's O.K. if you ( Read more... )

Why does your doctor want to push the issue on Friday? You'll be just at term or barely past it.

Prodromol labour sucks :-(

They are concerned about pre-e. I had it last time, and this time it's been sort of a 'push it back as long as things still look good' situation. I understand her not wanting to take chances with it, but I'd much rather have a totally natural labor.

If you don't have pre eclampsia and it's just a concern, there's no need to induce you. If you start exhibiting symptoms then obviously that's a different story. OB's can very over cautious and too happy to induce. Remember that you have a right to refuse any procedure, and therefore don't have to be induced if you don't want to be. You want a natural labour, and if you're induced your chances of having one significantly fall. There is no harm letting the baby go post term if you're happy with that, you just need to be willing to be monitored frequently to make sure no signs of pre E turn up.

tell me about it! after being on bedrest since 27w (shortened cervix and contractions), everyone expected me to have turtle early. well, i'm now (today!) 38w, and no baby. i've been 2cm and 100% effaced for almost two weeks and having lovely non-patterned contractions that are just strong enough to keep me from sleeping or resting comfortably. although i'm happy that i've made it to term, and know that continuing to gestate is the best thing for turtle, i too wish that it wouldn't be so darned uncomfortable. good luck getting through the next week -- hope you feel better soon.

I definately understand and second this. I have been having contractions for about 10 hours now, spent a couple hours in the hospital since they were only 3-4 minutes apart and severe, unfortunately my cervix isn't cooperating yet so I'm not dialating at a rate they want. So now I'm back home waiting.
