I'm continuing with Tropes Sue Week. The first trope was Thirty Sue Pile Up which means there is a lot of Mary Sues running around in the story. Some only exist to be friends with the main Mary Sue, and others are just as bad as the main Mary Sue. Sometimes there are multiple main Mary Sues as well ( Read more... )

Nothing about this character is original, and the only real change to the series was to hand everything to the characters. Truth be told I would likely have gone for stories where everything was handed to the characters at a young age, but after reading so many stories where this happened I likely have come to the same conclusion I have now. It's boring, and unoriginal.

Here's the "she's like Harry check list".

* She lives with her aunt and uncle.
* She's got a male cousin.
* She's made to wear her cousin's hand me downs despite the fact as a girl her uniform would have been different.
* She doesn't get to go to a special school, or she wasn't.
* Someone comes to her rescue.
* She's able to talk to some kind of animal.
- She's a bookworm. (Nor an original trait as this was what was supposed to be Hermione's special trait and it's practically flaunted.
- She can perform super wandless magic at a young age. (Not a trait any of the canon characters have, but there is a reason for that as well.)

I'm not sure I've ever seen a fic with an "inheritance test" that didn't bash Dumbledore and/or the Weasleys. Sadly, that's the only thing original here.

So basically "What if Harry was a girl? And a Mary Sue?"
