He'd ended up losing his right foot and a pinkie, reappearing a foot from his starting point. He'd been able to reattach them, but he'd lost quite a bit of blood and had been anemic for days afterward.

Oopsy daisy. Lost my foot there. No worries. I'll just shove it back on then. Oh look. I've lost half of my blood. It's fine. Just a little woozy.

Does the Ministry in this story no longer track under-age magic? Because this would probably set off a few alarm bells for me if I were in that department.

Ford: The 'problem' is that I'm turning into a penguin, and my friend is rapidly running out of limbs!
Arthur: It's okay. I got them back.

There was a fan theory a while ago that Nagini was the snake Harry freed. This theory never addressed how a male boa constrictor changed into a female viper.

I agree that this fic seems pretty silly. And perhaps the author's assertion that Harry "devours books" is overstated, but it is nonetheless more accurate than your response ( ... )

I stand by what I said. There is a difference between devouring the things one likes to read and devouring book after book as well as retaining information on things one is interested in and retaining information on everything one reads.

That is a fair distinction. But that is not what your initial statements implied. Your prior statements implied that Harry doesn't like to read, or devour information in books at all--and that fanfic writers are foolish for going there ( ... )

"But the fact remains that people who aren't into reading often don't even bother to read books on the topics that interest them."

I know of plenty of teachers and librarians who would say that what you just said isn't fact, but instead myth. The issue of reading for lies in finding something that interests a person, nothing more and nothing less. The exception is when there is some kind of learning disability involved or the person suffers from illiteracy because of economic and/or social status. A person is a reader when they are able to pick up and read things regardless of whether they like it or not.

Edit: I also think that what Pottersues meant is implied with the context of what is going on in the entry.
