Because angels aren't supposed to have free will, so probably can't work up enough wangst to be a Sue.

You'd think 'no free will' would provide plenty of angst (see: Harry's anti-destiny teenage moping). Sadly, I don't think it occurred to this author.

Also, aren't angels supposed to be non-humanoid? Or at the very least, asexual. Somehow that never seems to come up in these fics...

If I wanted to properly explore 'no free will' angsting, I wouldn't be doing it in fanfic. Just saying.

Asexual, yes, although a bunch of fallen angels were supposed to have fathered kids on humans at one point, so I guess there's some room for interpretation there. (c.f. Book of Enoch, or two lines in the Bible before we hit Noah and the Flood.)

Not so sure about the humanoid bit. I don't know of any references that say one way or the other. I know Madeline L'Engle drew fairly reliably from the various apocrypha, but she had mixed representations as well.

gentle ducky locks of chocolate brown

What in the world does ducky mean? Am I missing something here?

I'm missing it too, don't worry. This honestly reminds me of TVtropes, which usually freaks me out every Friday.

& I just submitted my nominations for the GBs, Pottersues. Sadly couldn't find an awesome quote.

She had always known that this day would come, but had pushed it to the back of her mind; dreading the day she would no longer be invisible.

But... aren't human beings visible and angels... kinda invisible?

Yeah, I sort of got stuck on that part myself. Talking to birds and just floating everywhere must be run of the mill witch powers too.

She's talking about how her beauty would suddenly show through and I was like, bull. Sue, either you have spectacular beauty or you don't. I don't care how powerful her parents were, I highly doubt a spell could last that long to hide someones looks. It reminds me of all the Hermione Granger makeovers.

It could be a glamour...

For someone with "little memories" it sure takes a long time for us to hear about them all.

Something tells me she doesn't actually talk to the birds. She sings to them, with fully choreographed dance numbers as mice make her a ball gown.

I just had a flash of Snow White from Shrek using the animals to attack Celeste. :3

I was imagining Fiona's singing moment when she killed a bird who couldn't keep her tone, but that's way better...

It's less that no one saw her, it's just she was such an uninteresting cliche everyone looked away.
