This has nothing to do with the Sue I'm about to shred, but does anybody else get a bit annoyed at gratuitous use of the word 'mudblood' in HP fics? I'm guilty of a couple of casual uses of it myself, but I try to refrain; I've gotten the impression that it's considered extremely rude, that calling a muggle-born person a 'mudblood' is equivalent to ( Read more... )

This story sounds awfully like a piece i'm writing now. Only, my prophecy was only about Harry (you know, the actual HERO of the story) and well, it's not so badly written.

And i must say that i too, have become addicted to this LJ!

Ugh. I hate it when people abuse Phoenixes. I ought to have known it was coming, what with this fandom and all. ~_~

And her name is Jeanne. How quaint. Just another way to spell "Jean", if you ask me. X_x Between the horrible writing and the Phoenix references, this person deserves to be shot.

About the overuse of "mudblood" - yes, I think it's supposed to be considered pretty offensive. This was made clear in both the books and movie but people don't seem to get it. I've seen fics where Hermione calls herself a mudblood. That's ridiculous.
Just yesterday, I was watching CoS with my friend, who's never read the books, and he was asking me questions and he started referring to people as mudbloods. You can just say "Muggle-born." That's what I was calling them. I guess it just doesn't have the impact of a racial slur in real life, because it's a made-up word.

She has a SCAR shaped like a phoenix? That's stupid.

Well, this explains why she's able to outshine Harry so easliy: he's obviously had some kind of head injury.
