4499: Life is beautiful - Harry Potter

Dec 13, 2018 23:33

I am still needing to fix a few entries which came prior regarding links and such, but this may take a bit of time and I hope I don’t forget. I came across Queen of the Night again. The story is now called Queen of the Night: Years 1-3 and there is a second called Queen of the Night: Years 4-5. As for today’s entry…

I wish to forewarn it is rather bizzare. )

rating - toxic, ar - friend to all, ap - purrfection of ones pursuits, p - fluff train, stu - harry potter, ap - academic pursuit, ap - fine arts pursuit, pc - lesbians and more

It's like you just KNOW it's going to be a Mary Sue story when there's a bloody LIST

I'm sad to say this is true.

I don't understand what this story is supposed to be about. I am rather confused at why Harry is acting the way he is, to be honest.

I honestly don't get it either.

I am glad that I am not the only one that is confused.

Now, I am all for stories that have one of the characters examining their sexuality, but I don't think this story is one of those.

So...

I skipped to the last chapter and found myself even more baffled. There is talk of "heir Longbottom" and Luna's magic having violent spells that doesn't seem to worry any of the characters despite the fact she's apparently burning things by accident. The canon characters in that chapter are only recognizable by their names, but I felt like I was reading original fiction.

Baffled is a good word to use when it comes to this story. The canon characters are definitely only recognizable by their names, not how they truly act or think in the books.

The plot as well, tbh. It is only Harry Potter because of the name drops of the Harry Potter characters.

I was 14 when I started working on this fic and this review really fucked with me. I get that Harry is OOC and I don't especially agree that fanfic is supposed to be "in canon" for it to be a good piece of fiction? I get that this fic wasn't good because I was a literal kid when I wrote it. Harry is clearly maladjusted in this fic and is happy to a terrible extent - as a coping mechanism. But I understand that apparently that was not made clear enough? I don't really understand your issue with him liking dresses - is it a gender roles thing, do you get upset when male characters wear dresses? I do understand that you also don't get the entire picture when you start reading, there's a lot of plot points I set up to be developed but never get around to (because this is unfinished ( ... )
