thanks, i went there and called them and they said that although i am in an income bracket that would make me elligable, because my current employer offers insurance i am obligated to accept theirs, regardless of weather or not i can afford it. and she said if i don't accept the insurance from my employer i will be fined for not having health insurance. this state is so f'ed up.

What??? They can't fine you for not being able to afford health insurance, can they??? That's fucked up if it's true. Can anyone confirm/deny?

Never mind. You're right. You get fined. WTF? And this is new law is supposed to BENEFIT the people in our state?

So, say someone loses their job. They have no money coming in, no health insurance, AND they have to pay a fine for not having health insurance? Yeah. Good idea.

Quick google search: http://www.hcfama.org/. Since you're about to graduate, I think you can take it from there.

As far as I know -- and I don't live in MA at the moment, but I read it in the herald -- the law hasn't taken effect yet. Try doing a search on boston.com or bostonherald.com.

I don't know about massachusetts, but I do know about decent health insurance. For the year after I graduated college (when my parents' insurance wouldn't cover me and I didn't have insurance through my job).

I got insurance via ehealthinsurance.com -- good service, and it worked well for general doctor's office visits and whatnot. I paid $130 a month for full coverage and vision (got 2 new pairs of glasses out of it!). So, you might want to check that out -- if nothing else, it's cheaper than your work plans.
