A change of strategy has been required. Saturday night saw the cats being put ostensibly under 'house arrest', in that we locked the cat flap to outgoing traffic. This was fine, and resulted in no meeces overnight, but also resulted in me having to get up at 7.15am on Sunday to let Pud out, who was in a desperate state and could keep her furry legs ( Read more... )

Get a catflap that let's them out but not back in. They'll soon learn.

We can lock it either way, and in the summer I'm happy enough for them to stay out overnight. But it's too darned cold to make them stay out all night at the moment - especially Pud, who's getting on a bit and only really goes out to do her business and then gets back into the warmth of the house as soon as she can!

Hmmm. Only other thing is a litter tray but it seems like a step in the wrong direction. How about a muzzle...

Heh. Nah, I think just letting them sleep in the kitchen/conservatory but come and go as they please is ok. They have comfy chairs to sleep on in there, and their food and water is there too. That way, at least if Tigger does bring a mouse in the carnage is restricted to the kitchen only.
