I just ran across this letter that was written by my 2nd cousin, 9x removed through my maternal grandfather's side.  This is so incredibly interesting!  I love the glimpses into what life was really like for them.  And the woman who fought off the bear in this story was my 9x great aunt!  Cool!

I found it on Ancestry COMPLETELY by accident while looking for something else. I'm still going through another part of the intro to that book that's online.

Hooray for people who put original sources online! This is an extremely rare book, apparently.

I know! And now I have found where Ancestry has the whole book scanned online. Full of stuff like this. I feel like I found a gold mine.

Dude! The same woman who wrote this letter founded a seminary and wrote a memoir which is entirely available online! I just saved it so I can read it later. So so stoked!!!
