I don't think I'm still in touch with a single one of my "roommates." However, I kept in contact with one of my _suitemates_ for quite awhile (that would be Laura PVB) and am still quite close to another (that would be Ruthie).

I haven't seen the roommates I was assigned to in the dorm since halfway through my freshman year. I haven't seen any of the folks I roomed with during the rest of that year, either. I still know a lot of friends I met that year, some of whom I later roomed with, although I wasn't actually attending college at that time. I would say that I still am acquainted with everyone I lived with during future collegiate adventures, with the exception of my first husband (never should have gone there, but it seemed like a good idea at the time...).

My initial freshman year occurred in 1977-78.

i had about fifteen roommates total since i lived in rooms with three other people for three of the years with people leaving mid year and such, plus i had roommates when i stayed at school to work during the summers. so the answer is "some."

I went to a commuter college. At the time that I was at U of I Chicago, they didn't have any on-campus housing at all. By the time I left, they had completed the first of their housing units on-campus.

I have had many roommates over the years since then, none of them chosen by anything other than friendship and expediency. And I'm still friends with the vast majority of them.

My freshman roommate was not talking to me by the end my junior year. We got along okay while living together. Then she fell into the belief that I was a lesbian and I think it freaked her out. Second roommate was into the Dead, one break she followed the Rainbow and never came back. Third roommate was from Poland and we never kept contact.
