Saw Two Towers again via a DVD rental. It confirmed my opinion that I do not want to own the theatrical release, and will wait for the extended edition. I was fuming from Faramir on. Sure do hope the added footage corrects some things that were clearly a result of forced editing.

Just finished reading Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child's Cabinet of Curiosities. Liked it, but then, I rather expected that, given that I've also read Relic, Mount Dragon, Reliquary and Riptide. The last was the only one that I felt was a bit subpar, but the rest are entertaining page turners. I look forward to Still Life With Crows when it comes ( Read more... )

Former Beatle George Harrison died today at the age of 58. Cancer.

Coincidentally, John Knowles, author of A Separate Peace did, too, just barely before him. He was 75. I liked that book.

It always seems that people die around the holidays - not just celebrities.
