Doctorate, Finished
Yesterday, I defended my doctoral dissertation and paid the last $120 in fees to the University of Minnesota. For the cost of tuition, they really should include the dissertation filing, even though the money is technically paid to a private publisher.

Lost Online... More Ways than One?
I have been struggling with Wrong Planet. Not the people, but the site. I find that I struggle with several Web sites. I get frustrated trying to find links, read messages, and generally navigate. Just some thoughts
I do still read the posts here, mainly in communities. I find the various "games" that have to be played fascinating. "A person I know... did x" and "A friend..." is an interesting way to frame questions about the self, I think. Sometimes, I'm positive the person is writing about a personal experience, but I'm not always certain of this ( Read more... ) -
The University.... oh, well
I complained here about the IRB process a few weeks ago. I was on my third revision of an application to conduct a survey on Internet use. This is clearly not a medically or psychologically dangerous study for those participating. Ten questions, a few minutes of time, and that's all. The results are going to be used to redesign some online courses ( Read more... )
