Only did the Firefly characters because I've only seen Dollhouse once and am not up to par with character analysis there.

Mal and Zoe: Gryffindor. Rather self explanatory. They've both shown bravery under hairy circumstances multiple times.

Inara: I know this might be controversial, but I put her in Slytherin. Before she came aboard Serenity her friend commented that she wanted to head priestess post, or something like that, and that she had it going for her. So, there's ambition there, which in and of itself is not a bad thing.

Simon and River: Ravenclaw. I also considered Slytherin for Simon because he wanted the wealth and prestige that came with being a doctor, but I figured his smarts would make putting him in Ravenclaw a better choice.

Kaylee and Wash: Hufflepuff. They're both very loyal.

Jayne: Had a hard time with his. Thought about Gryffindor because he is brve. Went with Slytherin because he would take command of Serenity if given the chance. I see him as being ambitious but not being smart enough to get into a ( ... )

I completely forgot about that line! I've only re-watched about half of Firefly.

Simon (<3 <3 <3) was a borderline case for me too. Ultimately it kind of came down to motivation, and being as smart and crafty as he was, there were probably much easier paths toward keeping or improving his status. He seemed to tip toward interest in the puzzles of medicine themselves, which strikes me as more Ravenclawy.

So, there's ambition there, which in and of itself is not a bad thing.

THANK YOU. Ambition gets a bum rap. It's not even necessarily selfish. It just is. That implication of Slytherin=villain is one of the least comfortable things about the whole series for me. It's about what your ends are, you know? People are ambitious with excellent goals and brave for some really harmful shit.

Most of my choices agreed with the pack, but I ended up putting Simon (and Zoe) in Hufflepuff. I think Simon is both bright and ambitious, but the sin qua non of his existence turned out to be loyalty. When put to the test, he gave up everything to rescue his little sister and never considered abandoning her. Zoe is arguably either a Gryffindor or a Hufflepuff. She's undoubtedly brave, but like Simon, in the end I see her as ceaselessly loyal, in her case to Mal, Wash, and Serenity. I pretty much flipped the coin on Mal and picked Gryffindor, but wouldn't argue with anyone who selected Slytherin, because he is one sneaky SoB.

Zoe could have gone either way for me, too.

He really is! I wasn't sure either. Ultimately he's so big into the BLAZE OF GLORYYYYYYYYY it tipped me over, but only just.

I put them in Hufflepuff for the same reasons

ha, yes. I was all excited to do a Dollhouse poll and then I realized how hard it was going to be to decide for most of them. Still fun, though.

I hope BtVS, AtS, and TVD coming up from...whoever feels like it.

OKAY OKAY, STAY TUNED. (but geez, SO MANY CHARACTERS, lol.)

The only times I went against the pack were for Bennett and Inara. I think Bennett is cunning enough for a Slytherin, and Inara gutsy enough for a Gryffindor. I could be persuaded either way, though.

OH NO I DID NOT MEAN TO PEER PRESSURE. just if you feel like it. (or whoever.) (That poll wizard is a PAIN IN THE ASS, dude. I totally cheated and c&p'd the html code a million times. whatever, ALL ABOUT THE LOW-MAINTENANCE.)

This is making me realize all over again just how little the surface was even scraped with Inara. I definitely think the show would have gotten there and it would have been amazing, there was so much going on under that facade (and the desire and ability to keep up that facade is in and of itself a fascinating thing).

YES FOR PERFECT SATURDAY NIGHT POLL

High fives for sorting Mal into Slytherin. I mean, obviously, right? I have to say though, I don't think Jayne is smart enough to be a Slytherin... he's much more brawn and bluster which makes me categorize him as Gryffindor. And Book - he's got so many secrets and is so sneaky - I totes went Slytherin for him, which seems to have been more of an an unusual choice than I expected... :)

Having not yet seen Dollhouse, I have nothing to contribute. Future polls are excite, however. (Spike is such a Hufflepuff, nacht?)

POLLS ARE FUN! and characters are fun! hence, character polls are big fun.

lol, I forgot my own answer on Mal there for a minute, oops. But he's so close to the edge. Book is a mystery!

Spike is such a Hufflepuff, nacht

Spike is borderline to me! Because his love of fighting for its own sake is very Gryffindor, but he's so clearly driven by his commitment to his relationships and I do think motivation is more determinative than anything else.
