ERIK. ERIK. ERIK. ERIK. I ALSO HAVE ALL THE FEELINGS. I HAVE MADE MYSELF PRESIDENT OF THE ERIK LEHNSHERR APPRECIATION SOCIETY. IF I DIDN'T HAVE A STORY TO WRITE FOR POSSIBLE PUBLICATION I'D JUST BE WRITING ALL ABOUT HIM ESCAPING TO AMERICA AND THEN WINNING MONEY IN A DUBIOUS WAY AND THEN KILLING PEOPLE AND THEN MEETING CHARLES. MOSTLY WITH THE WEARING ALL BLACK AND STABBING PEOPLE, THOUGH.

*cough*

I also read the comics in the 90s. And I've been reading X-Men again for the last year or so, since Second Coming started, but Erik and Charles haven't made an appearance in them. I don't know where they are, really. I think I'm going to have to wiki the previous arc and see what's happening with them. (Scott is leader right now, with Emma as his right hand.)

FWIW, Charles & Erik are currently doing stuff together with the X-Men in the X-Men: Legacy series, but there hasn't been much focused on their relationship lately for whatever reason.

That's good to know, actually. I'll have to add it to my pull list. I don't even mind if they're not on screen together. It'll just be nice to catch up with them again.

They are rejuggling all the lineup of the x-books soon, I think? But there was a 'special' Legacy issue that came out this week (special = it costs $5!!!) and one of the stories in it has Charles & Erik on a team together and suggests that's a new status quo.

The character was pretty cool and I liked having her around, but I don't understand why they were like, "OH, BEE TEE DUBS, THIS IS MOIRA. BUT AMERICAN. AND IN THE CIA."

Hee! No kidding, but also yes to the feelings & Charles/Erik needing to hang out in the Savage Land.

IT WAS JUST SO WEIRD. As soon as she said her name I was like, "But she's not... Scottish..." and then int he meeting she was like, "We need an expert!" and I was like, "Oh, so at least she knows Chuck from school, still!" but then she.... did not know any science at all? idk. Don't get me wrong, I liked her and all, but... weird name choice.

ANYWAY. FEELINGS. SAVAGE LAND. CHUCK AND ERIK. AGREED. I need to rewatch those episodes.

It occurs to me that one of the ways that the Marvel studios movies have been smarter (or at least different) than the X movies is if they need a new character they just make a new character. Agent Clark Gregg has been in every movie since Iron Man, I think, and while they could have called him Clay Quatermaine, or something, it turns out that letting him be Phil Coulson is perfectly adequate. And, like, granted, Thor was the first time Jane Foster has ever been an astrophysicist, but when they wanted her to have a cute nerdy sidekick they just made one up instead of slotting some random Marvel character into the role.

I just saw it myself and very much liked it. I always sympathize with Magneto ... like, it was pretty obvious in this movie that Charles really has no *reason* for his determination to try and make nice with humans (aside from being an assimilationist and that makes me :( ). But I have to admit, I loved the 30 second cameo with Wolverine.

You definitely have a point about Charles, one that I am generally too busy being distracted by the fireworks in my heart to think about XD I took shelter from the heat at the comic shop this week and Jesse (our friend who works at the comic shop) and I had a whole conversation about how frequently the X-Men movies fall into the trap of the good guys only being the good guys because their name is in the title, like they feel like they don't need to explain WHY they're good, they figure the audience will just accept it.

But, you know, fireworks in my heart XD

(Also, hilariously, as much as I love Hugh Jackman (plz to come back and host the Tonys forever), I have never in my life cared very much about Wolverine. He was a constant source of aggravation in our childhood--we were always very put out that so much focus was on a character that we frankly didn't like so much/)

I didn't really love the character until the movies. In X-men, I had a tendency to be drawn either to the slightly stiff, priggish characters like Scott or Angel (as Warren W111), or the blue collar characters who clearly a: didn't belong in the mansion playing nice (Wolverine and Gambit) b: weren't youngsters -- so they clearly had a life and background before coming to the mansion.

I ... kind of really liked this movie Charles, he's clearly supposed to be a very well meaning, but still naive, very privledged white guy who isn't quite getting it, yet. He's very imperfect, and in ways that make sense for his character and you can also see how he'd grow out of those imperfections (or some of them) over time ( ... )

I feel like we're all supposed to sympathize with Charles because we're human. But ummm I totally wish I had a sweet super power.

I also loved the Wolverine cameo and I was sitting in front of a row of talkative sassy black teenagers who kept making hilarious comments, and one of them very frustratedly said, "Damn, when is Wolverine coming back?!" right about the time everyone was getting their yellow jumpsuits. Word, sassy black teenagers. Word.

I PRETTY MUCH DID THE SAME THING. I went with sillyg and as soon as the credits rolled I was like, "I'M HAVING ALL THE FEELINGS!" and just kept saying it until she was like, "OKAY, I KNOW. I'VE CAUGHT ON TO THAT."

Ugh, I need to go back nine million times immediately :D

I have nothing to add, not being a comic books nerd, but I'm really glad you loved the movie so much. It makes me happy. :)
